Dear boss:
Nov. 3rd, 2003 06:30 amI will not be coming in today. I have a sore throat so nasty, the phrase "sore throat" doesn't do it justice. I might turn off my cell phone, but I'll check it for messages. Email is a better way to reach me today.
G- -- the BPAEC in the 6-well plates should be ready for starving. Any 10cm dishes should be fed, passaged, or discarded (I think we still have a dish of IMR90 in the incubator). The cDNA I made last week is in the -20, in a plastic vial labeled with the sample numbers and their conditions. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line -- my throat hurts like hell, but typing is painless. :)

The Sun has risen on what we call a "sick day." Don't feel bad for me: As reasons to stay home go, a painful sore throat is among the less unpleasant. I can go to the doctor and get it tested (Strep? Demonic possesion?), then smother it in anaesthetics.
Don't really care what it is,
Nov. 3rd, 2003 03:57 pmI'm just glad it goes away fast. Thank you to all who sent get-wells and drink-teas. :)
Yes, all night, and all morning, my throat was fiery and nearly closed up. I stayed in bed all day, slept as much as I could (didn't sleep much last night), and drank lots of carrot juice, like some dirty hippie. Now I feel almost perfectly fine.
Allergic reaction is my best guess, but I have no idea to what. Maybe the airborne particles of Polyshades wood stain, the ones I made when I sanded the Fluffy cabinet between coats, didn't agree with my mucus membranes.
That thing looks great, by the way. I'd show you a picture, but my camera has sawdust on the lens. I'll have to put up an illustrated summary of its construction soon. It's been more time-consuming than expected, but I can't get over how nicely the stain took.
sadira is a natural with a brush. Maybe I'll put the doors on it today. I should at least design the filtration system, so that I'll know where to put holes in the back panel.
