score / eep!
Dec. 9th, 2003 05:04 pmI just found a copy of Ishmael in the free bin next to the copy room. I also grabbed a cheesy-looking sci-fi comp called There Won't Be War, with Joe Haldeman among the contributors.
Last week, I snagged The Firm out of there. Wonder if it's really good, or if it's just a social virus book.
Been reading Ender's Shadow, and loving it. It starts out weaker than its predecessor -- too much "and he was so so brilliant, he thought really really fast; and he was wicked tiny" crap -- and it takes a while to pick up speed, but then it leaves the earlier book behind. My favorite bits are where it overlaps the previous story -- it's like enjoying two books at once.
I still need to find a copy of Hyperion.

Moments ago, I was standing in the hall, thinking about science, when our sassy Irish medical fellow, the same one who told me she died laughing when her boyfriend tried to use her ponytails as handles during missionary-style sex ("...totally ruined the moment, but I couldn't stand it!"), Comes up from behind and whaps me sharply in the ass with a box full of mouse antibodies. I jumped, and she darted past. "Get the fook out-o-the-way."
