learning curve

I wish I could diagnose and repair my own problems as well as I seem to think I can for others. I'm doing something wrong, but I can't tell what it is.

I had a terrible dream last night. Two dear friends were beaten and buried alive. I could hear them screaming, but I didn't find them in time.

A little coffee and some walking around should help me shake this feeling.

Help me, multimedia nerds.

I have an MPEG file. I want to render it silent (remove the sound). Can this be done? How, and with what software (WinXP platform)?

(It's a 2GB clip of my Amazon tank, featuring excellent performances by most of the inhabitants. Basically, it's a virtual aquarium. I'd like to burn the file onto DVD and offer it to friends who want some of the benefits of a huge fish tank without the work. Stripping the sound would permit the viewer to select their own background music.)
