almost skunked, but still fun
Jun. 23rd, 2008 11:42 amI fell asleep after work on Friday. At midnight, I got up and surfed the net.
I stayed awake. At 5, I got in the shower. Next, I threw some tackle together, and drove to Plum Island Point. The boat left at 7:30. I doused myself in SPF 30, and slept in the galley until we stopped over 200 feet of water. Gorgeous weather, calm seas. My deep sea rod and reel performed flawlessly on their maiden voyage, and the pre-tied rigs were a pleasure to use, but the fish were un-cooperative. Biggest fish on the boat was an 8.5lb cusk. I caught some short codfish, a damned shark, and one decent haddock.
Those haddock fillets work out to $80/lb, but it was very pleasant to be out on the water, anyway. I wanna go again.
