novice mechanic says "oops"
Jun. 7th, 2010 02:14 pmI watched a number of YouTube videos regarding the correct way to strip braze-ons from an easily-replaceable bicycle frame*: First, brace the frame securely in a bike stand. Then, veeerrrry carefully tap through the welds with a small hammer and a sharp little chisel.
I had a claw hammer, a big, dull chisel, a hacksaw, and no bike stand. Now I have all of the above, plus a busted mixte frame. Glad it was cheap. Restart project!
* If it's a hard-to-replace frame, you damn well better leave the braze-ons where the builder put them.
