The Variable Man, Philip K. Dick, 1953: Surprisingly casual about copious and grisly violence; unsurprisingly quaint, entertaining, and politically pointed.
In The Days of The Comet, H. G. Wells, 1906: I'm just starting this one. I love it so far. (You have to be in the mood for Wells, but I often am.)
