Here is a counterproductively-named boat.

Keeps me from burning to a crisp.

[livejournal.com profile] saturniidae looks content.

[livejournal.com profile] liza31337 looks satisfied.

We had fine weather and excellent tackle.

I caught the first fish. It was feisty, but sub-legal.

[livejournal.com profile] julishka catches another "little" 25-incher.

After a couple of hours without keepers, I considered eating some bait. That splash may or may not be a fish -- I don't remember.

After some beer over Dramamine on an empty stomach, I thought taking a picture of my sneaker was a good idea.

Saturniidae always catches the weird shit. That's a skate. Captain's boot included for scale.

Last summer, our cap'n kept his weed in a little cooler under this sign. He got stoned as hell while we fished.

I can smell your brains.

Saturniidae hooks up while [livejournal.com profile] swazorama looks on.

The captain gaffs her mighty striper.

Dinners. Several of them. A far cry from last year's outstanding catch, but everyone had fun anyway.

Did you keep the skate? They're delicious!

I had no idea. They sure don't look delicious.

pan-fried skate wing. tasty.

You wouldn't think monkfish is very good either, but they are even if they have a face only their mother could love.

Monkfish are still the poor man's lobster, but I prefer them to it. I think that's a relatively new term (60s or whenever lobster came into vogue?) because lobster hasn't always enjoyed such prominence among food.

To me, lobsters are still the roaches of the sea. Apparently, there's a law in MA mandating that you can't feed your servants lobster more than three times a week.
