The injured soldier may or may not walk again. He's chock full o'shrapnel. He got to keep all his fingers, but he can't quite make a fist. Don't know if that's permanent. He's up on crutches, which is encouraging.

She meant that the civilian population was going after the troops, not just the military. She kept saying "They want that son of a bitch back, even after all he's done to them!" One of the medical fellows tried to tell her it was probably a straggling group of loyalists, but I just slipped away into the hall.
