I loathe The Doors.

Somebody has promised to buy the Buick! Now I can actually buy a used 180-gallon tank when I see one, and not a moment too soon: Last night, I had a terrible dream that Fluffy had jumped out of her house and shriveled up on the floor. Oh, I felt awful when I woke up. She's doing fine -- I checked.

I don't know if she could make a snot cocoon on such short notice. In the wild, she'd have several days to take note of the falling water level. "What say, Fluffy? Ceiling of World lower today?"

once you haver her bigger tank with sand, you should do a little test so you can watch her cover herself in snot and dig into the sand.

Perhaps the periodic stress of an artificial drought would make her more robust.

Good points, both. I'm pretty sure many lungfishes live out their entire lives without a drought episode, which is nice. I'd hate to feel like I was depriving Fluffy of an essential experience.

just like in her diet, i'm sure variety would be good for her. it would make her a well-rounded fish.

She'd need mud to work with, as opposed to sand, and there's no way I'm cleaning up after her when she's done playing with mud.

If I want to watch her cover herself in snot, I'll just feed her a live blue crab (http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/education/crab/bluecrabfacts.html). :)
