I have decided that a Wrangler would be cool, but the road noise would drive me insane, eventually.
I am not man enough for a WRX Ti. 300HP? In that little box? Hell no. I would put far too much trust in the AWD and end up atop a snowbank. Upside down.
I also never had problems of something freezed in it or to it.
I hate it when things freeze unto my car. Stupid neighborhood kids, trying to make snow angels on the hood. You'd think they'd learn, after the first piano-wire-and-winch procedure. It's like, impossible to get frozen skin off paint.

I know somebody who rolled a 1960's Beetle in the snow. They had their seat belt on. Since the roof was curvy, the car kept rolling, and came to rest upright. The guy just kept driving.
If your budget is in the low thirties (as the WRX STi suggests), there are many, many tasty options available to you. I will gladly help you test drive a few of them.
