Workplace bitching ahead.

Boss came in over the weekend and did some experiments. Lots of experiments. So many, that the reagent stock solutions, which are normally stored at -20C, sat out on the bench all day. That means that today, we had to prepare them fresh. Inconvenient, but no big deal. I went to pick up something I needed from another lab while she made up six of the seven solutions needed (I made the seventh before leaving). I came back 10 minutes later, and found that her reagents hadn't dissolved yet (mine had). That's normal for lots of stuff, so I thought nothing of it. I put everything on a shaker and waited. And waited.
And they didn't dissolve. I commented on this to her, and she said I may have to dilute them 1:2. Fine. So I go to dilute them, and to make note of the new concentrations. That's when I notice she had made them up at tenfold or more the previous concentrations. I could've waited on my ass all day for these to dissolve, even if I had made them 1:2.

So at 2pm, I started an experiment I could have begun at 11am if she had put her reagents on ice whileworking with them this weekend. Glad it's a short experiment. Annoyed because it's pretty much the only thing I have to do today, and I could've been done by now.

I see nothing of the exciting results she saw over the weekend. Today looks like a replay of all the other days I watched her try to see what she was looking for, whether it was there or not. "Try adding more of this... Let them sit for another half hour... Add some of this, too..."

Maybe we've got something. Maybe the results are (were) real. The way she tries to wring the desired results out of the experiments I've done for her realy irks me, though.

A U.S. soldier was wounded Tuesday in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in Fallujah as a mob shouting anti-U.S. slogans ransacked a police station. The crowd also set police cars on fire.

Witnesses said shots were fired at troops from the U.S. Army's 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, who returned fire from inside a building.
