My fu-... beloved desktop is acting up again. I would like to barter goods and/or services for some in-person technical support, before I throw the tower from my third-floor window.
1.
Sound cuts out in the middle of audio and video files, be they local or streaming. Rebooting solves the problem for a couple of minutes, but never for long.
2.
The active window becomes inactive spontaneously and repeatedly. It has happened about nine times in the past few minutes. Composing this post has been an exercise in self-restraint.
Recent changes:
New internal wireless card and related software installation.
WinXP SP3.
I waved my chicken wings and chanted:
Ran a virus check, defragged the HDD, reinstalled iTunes, and reinstalled the sound card driver. No dice.
(Many of you know I'm running WinXP Home on a 3.2GHz P4 with 2GB of RAM. I'm not doing it for fun. "Buy a new computer" is not helpful advice, unless it comes with hundreds of dollars.)
