but I feel like going to sleep will amount to admitting defeat. I wanted more out of today than work. Mreh. Oh, and Neuromancer isn't getting any better. It's too self-involved.

I'm sleepy. Maybe I can make up for today tomorrow.

The story is ok, but I do love the details of the world...

"Shin's pistol was a fifty-year-old imitation of a South American copy of a Walther PPK, double action on the first shot, with a very rough pull."

I like the way they flip out over how expensive steak is. Paraphrased, "They have to raise an entire animal for years, and then they kill it!"

Yep. I can appreciate the amount of imagination that went into it, but a book should be more legible; it shouldn't make you wade through quite so much silly, masturbatory metaphor, and it shouldn't take quite so much work to fill in all the details implicit in the I-invented-all-this-jargon text.

I don't like it either ... it's amazing how much crap I got for that long ago.

I remember liking it (haven't read it in years), but I do believe he's improved. "Pattern Recognition" (I think that's the name of the newest one) is more about the people than the gadgets. Plus it's closer to the present than the far far future.
