I'm very tired of ninjas, zombies, and pirates. Let's talk about bounty hunters or whirling dervishes or something.
One more Carmina Burana sample, and that's when I take out my revolver. Some years ago,
znuh got fed up, bought a synth, and made his own damn music, and it was good. I sometimes want to do that, but I fear the learning curve. I psyche myself out completely every time I consider it. If I really want to do this, I'll have to shadow someone who's already doing it.
99.9, "The Electric Front" on live365.com has given me some pleasant surprises. Best damn remix of NIN's "Slipping Away" ever. Dunno what it's called. It's 6:11 long, and it's great -- that's all I know.
Had dinner with
canongrrl,
nepenthe01, and
darla at Tacos Lupita last night. They make a good beef burrito, those Mexicans. Use the green sauce liberally.
Last night, beer, nachos, and constructive conversation with
fusion_waste. We have work to do, because life is now, not later.
Today has been good. Nothing extraordinary, just a pleasant day. I feel content. I'm hoping to catch Constantine with
darla tonight.

Date: 2005-03-12 11:50 am (UTC)It's weird - when I started, I really remembered Michaelalgelo's(?) quote about sculpting. When asked how he created such lifelike art, he replied, "Well, when I start, the final piece is in there, it's just imprisoned by all this marble. All I do is chip away until it's free."
Armed with that, I stared at my new purchase back in 2000 and said, "All the songs you ever wanted to hear are in that synth. All you have to do is hit the right keys and they'll come out." I treated the keys like they're keys on a typewriter. Letters become words which become sentences and so on; you just have to press them and things start happening. The difference here is that the keys aren't labeled in the same way, so you end up exploring using your ear instead of your eyes, which is fun.
And I think that's really it - even goofing around is fun. The more you fool around with it, inevitably the more familiar you become, skill increases and before you know it something pops out. The real freaky thing is when people tell you they like your stuff. It's definitely more along the lines of enjoying the journey vs. reaching a destination kind of thing.
And phffft, if I can do it, anyone can.
