I won't say whether or not I've commented on any of those OMG U TELL ME SOMETHING ANONYMOUS entries, because I don't want to ruin anyone else's fun. I don't want people to assume I've said something I haven't, either. Here is my compromise: If you're wondering if any of those comments came from me, ask me in private.

Anticipating and receiving compliments of various sorts is fun. Learning some not-so-flattering information your friends wouldn't want to share directly, but which could be useful, e.g., "You have bad breath sometimes," is also good. The problem is that anyone who chooses to participate, and everyone who chooses not to, becomes part of the pool of potential responders. Disastrous misattributions could result. It would be more considerate (and a lot less exciting, too) if only the person posing the question could read the replies.

That all sounded far angrier than it should have. I'm not even irked -- I'm just wary of misunderstandings.

I guess you just have to figure you really don't know who's writing any of these.

Anyone who receives a reply can narrow its source down, maybe even pinpoint it -- at least they may think they can do either, which is enough.

don't you mean "it's source" there? :P

Nope. (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=its)

"Its" is the possessive form of the pronoun it and is correctly written without an apostrophe. It should not be confused with the contraction it's (for it is or it has), which should always have an apostrophe.

Don't mess with my pet peeve's.

You know there are a few things that stopped me from playing that one.

Noteably, if you really want to tell me something, tell me to my fucking face.

But then I'm not much fun anyways.

"if you really want to tell me something, tell me to my fucking face."

Amen.

Because hey, I usually do that for people. Granted, I have little to no tact, and it's not really a virtue, but sometimes it's appreciated.

Ditto to the tell me to my face -- and I'm generally overly-honest already, so I feel no need to add lj drama to that. Also I played this game once here already, like 2 years ago, so I'm over it.

I can't abide by the notion that you are not much fun though. You're much more fun than I am!

Oh yes, you're not much fun at all. *remembering the hilarity from a week back*

Also, GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZER!

Clearly, I have missed something. WTF is all this about?

And BTW Lepido, you have bad breath sometimes, and my legs are prettier than yours even though I don't shave.

Here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/loxocele/244844.html) is a recent example.

I see. I had pretty much figured it out from context, but that's very interesting.

Seeing as how I've always been my most savage critic, I think I'll pass. I agree with most of your points. And M. Zero's: tell me to my fucking face.

Where do we diverge?

The trick is, as with anything in Livejournal, is not to take it too seriously. Smile at the compliments, smile at the insults. Don't get upset if no one says anything.

And I don't expect anything to come of such confessionals. It's just fun.

I'm glad that I was at the beginning of this round of the meme, before it got annoying. *grin*

Naturally, but I'm not speaking from the "asker's" perspective. I mean that those entries can cause misunderstandings, because "askers" as well as "readers" (i.e., everyone) can make assumptions about who (whom? dammit) wrote what.

For example, I now suspect that you want to lick [livejournal.com profile] mishak.

Date: 2005-03-25 06:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silas7.livejournal.com
See, if peopel are concerned about what people write anonymously, then they shouldn't do it. Nor should they spend a hella lotta time trying to figure out who said what. Only bad can come of it!

Hmmm... maybe I do want to lick Mishak. Oh shoot, now other people think so too. Or maybe he suspects because he can read this here! OH CRAP!

Don't let me have too many scorpion bowls this weekend, or who knows what will happen? *grin*

You do have a point. This could become a huge dramarama waiting to happen. But only if the poster lets it.

Dammit, boy, you're not hearing me. :)

It can become a gigantic drama nightmare for anyone who ever reads any of the journals that include that entry. Say [livejournal.com profile] darla gets it in her head that I want to lick [livejournal.com profile] mishak. Do you have any idea how disappointed she'd be to learn that I don't?

Date: 2005-03-25 06:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silas7.livejournal.com
She'll be heartbroken, I'm sure :)

If people are getting bent out of shape over something someone posted anonymously (which may not even be true, I might add), they deserved to be kicked squaw in the nuts. I know I have a few friends who love nothing better than to yank my (metaphysical) chain. I would totally expect them to post something like "I want to lick you" in my journal, just to watch my reaction. That's why I might be amused and pleased by some of the answers, but I don't put any stock in them.

I mean, it's a silly meme. Silly!

I've always wanted to rub a cat rapidly against your hair to see if it'll pick up small pieces of paper.

My only concern is that the cat could get violent. If you find a really mellow cat, knock yourself out.

Speaking of, I thought this said "disastrous masturbations". Ha!

I think you're just jealous that nobody wants to lick you. Or at least nobody anonymous anyway ;-)

I'm perfectly comfortable knowing who wants to lick me. It's the sudden, unexpected lickers you have to look out for. Very startling.

But sometimes the element of surprise can be exciting, don't you think? =)
