We had to throw away a reagent lot because we discovered that the pen that we were filling out the paperwork had no certificate of calibration and no expiration date! We were screwed if we passed it and the FDA ever checked on us!

(reads: my old company became super paranoid because we want to be bought out and there must have been discussions that if we weren't 150% paperworked and careful, the deal would fall through)
