Here's my right retina.

The bright spot is my optic nerve. The darker bit to its left is my macula. The blood vessels all look happy. (They don't show up sharply here, but they do if you play with the original file.) The pigment deposition is nice and generous all over the place.

It was just a regular eye exam, and everything looked good. The Optomap was optional, and it looked cool.

Does your insurance cover the retina thingie?

Mine does not and it seems very myoptic on the insurance co's part. They discovered tears in G's retina that required laser surgery...else the potential for blindness.

The Optomap procedure cost me an extra $30, which means it's either a really cheap test, or that it's only partially covered. I don't think I've ever had my retina looked at closely, and I figured the diagnostic power of the procedure was worth it.
