Friday:
Blue Ribbon BBQ with [livejournal.com profile] annabelle, then puttering around the house.

Saturday:
Shirts to laundry, pants to tailor, shoes to cobbler. Did (pronounced "removed") my hair. Acquired Amazon Project decor, clay substrate, and ill-fated plants. 'Scaped, planted and filled the 180, then added my five immortal Corydoras aeneus to break it in. Attended a party at [livejournal.com profile] armandae's, then shot out to catch (well, miss) the very very end of a party at Tonic, and tagged along for a little afterparty.

Sunday:
Considered renaming my project "Amudzon." The fracted clay was dustier than I thought, so the water went completely turbid. I expect the plants to shrivel for want of light before I get this cleared up. (Don't worry about the corys -- corys in mud are like children in a sandbox. Wheee!) I'll do a few water changes and then try a micron-sleeved canister filter.

What else? Some online research and reading about starting a business, and miscellaneous straightening up/sweeping. Very nearly did the dishes. [livejournal.com profile] rojagato returns tomorrow, I think, so I'll get them done tonight. I'll also have to start wearing clothes around the house again.

Been pestering [livejournal.com profile] znuh about building cars. Found a guy who builds a mid-mounted V8 chassis... for classic Beetles. How hot is that?

Tried to buy a used 50mm lens on eBay, but some pinhead bid $10 less than brand-new retail for it. WTF.

it's clay. let it sit for a while and the particles will settle.

Can't do that. The fishes will stir it up anyway, so I have to wash out as much of the dust as possible, and let the filters do the rest.

so corey stirred up everything! thought it was all muddy from adding the water initially, not from lifeforms swimming around in there.

is this clay substrate used for this purpose? because it might just keep getting cloudy. will you be adding another layer of heavier particles on top of it sand, pebbles, or something?

It is intended for aquarium use, and it will eventually clear up. Rinsing it in batches would have worked much better. Live'n'learn.
