The 1" steel pipe is center-suspended, meaning that any asymmetrical pull will destabilize the movement. There will be no cheating on these pull-ups.

That rope is theoretically strong enough to hold me up single-stranded. I doubled it over, just in case, because plenty of tensile strength is lost in knots and such. Still looks kinda thin; that gives me extra motivation to go slow and tight. Fortunately, this is a grind move, not a ballistic (pronounced "potentially rope-snapping") drill.

Easy project: 4' of 1" heavy steel pipe, with a 3/8" (I think) hole drill-pressed right through the middle. String it up and go. I used 3/16"(?) braided nylon rope.

I'm not sure if I said before, but you may not find it as hard as one might think, esp if you have emphasized full-range, grinding, hi-tension pullups before.

It's the kipping Crossfit guys who'd get a rude, rude surprise, or the cheatin,' unwashed masses.

I just noticed that you're using a textile rope, not steel cable. Beware of the edges of the hole slowly wearing/cutting through the rope. Check before every use, blah blah.

'Cause it'll be right above your crown when it snaps, and your weight, plus your pulling arms, as you fall will bring it down really, really hard. On your melon.
