You would have loved the gull 'ballet' I got to witness yesterday. This simply enormous sea gull was circling and flapping near a corner garbage can on Broadway in Somerville. It ended up that someone had thrown away a half eatten slice of pizza. So here this crazy bird has most of the slice in it's beak and is trying to fly off with it, except there were heavy down drafts and the heavy floppy pizza slice was getting in the way. Add to this a group of smaller birds, mostly pigeons, who were also trying to take ownership of the pizza slice. It was one of the funner displays I've seen in months.
