those people who draw and/or get off on anthropomorphized cartoon animals? I find that inclination mysteriously but intensely disgusting. It's right up there with fat-fetishism, but at least I understand why fat-fetishism is objectively wrong (pluralism be damned -- obesity is unhealthy), whereas these drawings of big-boobed wolves (for crying the fuck out loud) are inexplicably repulsive to me.

I thought they fell under the "furry" umbrella term because they like things that look like plush or cartoon animals.

I think it's revolting to most people because we perceive it as bordering both on bestiality and pedophilia.

Children like cartoon animals, and to portray cartoon animals in a sexual way skirts too close for comfort for most. As a friend of mine said "it's like wanting to fuck Ranger Rick."

For me, it's partly because of the people I associate with it. The way that certain people (who shall remain unnamed) talk about sexuality makes me queasy. Those people are very, very often into fur. And BDSM, and sf, and polyamory. So when I think of fur, I think of [lj username redacted], and of the way they construct their sexuality. And having sex with a bleeding, gangrenous post-amputation stump starts sounding pleasantly cleansing.

It could also just be because I'm a hater, though.

What lepidosiren said. I meant that there are people who are into all of these things, and loud. With fur, I have only negative associations. With polyamory, or BDSM, I have lots of exposure, and not only from a small handful of people who I see as sad sacks. I'm hardly one to bitch about either of those things!

For some reason, with fur, I associate it more strongly with the bad actors.
