This is a sandblasting cabinet.

The top of tygerwillow uses it skillfully. My bicycle frame is barely visible there, in the storm of silicosis-causing fines. I took the gun next, and then grapesodavixen tried a little shootin', too.

Technically, the cabinet was booked for an adult education class (wiiith zero attendees), so a cranky professor shooed us away halfway through the process. That just means one more trip. No big deal.

The sandblasted surface looks and feels great. I plan to paint this one, but there should be a clearcoat-over-steel frame in the future.

The clearcoat steel color sounds good to me, personally. Matte coat.

i am not fond of the look of a sandblasted surface. but if you have done something at the age of 14 it would loose its appeal after 21 years

I imagine so. There's a fellow who owns a custom paint shop, and he drives a plain black car -- no graphics, no pinstriping, no flames. He's sick of looking at all that!

i am not fond of exposed metal. i see it all day every day. if i ever build a car it will be flat black and everything that would be chrome i would paint glossy black. i think the interior would be wood leather and cloth. again no exposed metal.

I love these! You stick your hands through the holes and move awkwardly, getting the feeling you're inside a space suit about to go on a spacewalk.
