Those men were wearing the same gloves -- same material, same color -- as I used to wear at work every day. Creeped me out pretty good. I'm still wearing nitrile here, but my vendor changed brands.
you know, if i could tell my teen self something that i've learned as an adult it would be this:
teen julie, you will find that when you're in your late 20s and beyond you'll regret that you didn't pursue SCIENCE! art is all well and good, but if you'd gotten a BS instead of a BA, you'd get to play in all the science worlds you so envy every time you see pictures of pristine labs running experiments and such. you'd get to maybe be an art conservator instead of just wishing you could be one. so, teen julie, don't forget SCIENCE! (besides, your highschool more than prepared you for college science so stop being lazy!)
well, i am starting on the path to more education. we'll see whether i switch over to chemistry/art conservation officially - i'd be about 2 years behind wrt chemistry alone in order to even APPLY to an accredited conservation program. there are other avenues, however. we'll see.
My old boss, the Duchess of Science, has only a BA in French. Now she's a senior scientist at a major biotech company. And she still remembers all her French.
