I'm a nine-to-fiver, give or take. Some days are a little longer, some shorter. I'll put in some lab time on the odd Sunday, but I think I come out ahead, in the end.

I know plenty of people who don't generally get consecutive days off, and a few who work more or less anytime they aren't asleep (*coughatalantacough*).

For 72 hours, I have been away from work. I've been back for two hours and forty minutes, I like my job, and I'm already daydreaming. What the hell, people. Hi, I'm a six-year-old.

Actually some are even working when they're asleep... which is pretty creepy.

so true, I was just going to say that I spent all last night dreaming about the lecture I gave this AM.

I think he is referring to the fact that I keep finding myself lying in bed and thinking I'm drifting off while I'm actually running through paper rewrites. Or, more commonly this week ... I finally get out of bed after realizing that while I thought I was luxuriating in a few snooze intervals, I had actually been editing a grant application in my head for the last half hour.

I like my job too, but I don't think I'll ever like any work more than all the things I like to do when I'm not doing work. I imagine Ron Jeremy may feel different.
