Last night, I was at a pajama party, having a reasonably good time (although my vintage baby-blue, faux frog button, 100% Pima cotton sleeping coat wasn't such a hit), but then I suddenly stopped feeling the groove, so I went home. Something happened while I slept. In the morning, I could barely be bothered to breathe. I ate something, checked email, and... fell back into bed. Barely an hour ago, I returned a phone call and made some coffee. I flaked on a get-together, and did nothing at all with a perfectly useful Sunday. I'm not in distress, but I feel vaguely ill at ease, and entirely without drive.

Who nay-sayyed the coat? I wouldn't have.

It took me until 4pm today to force myself from the bed, even though I'd been awake since much earlier.

There were bemused compliments here and there, but just as many people described it as "creepy." I was dismayed. Certainly won't be wearing it again.

It took me until 4pm...

Yeah, but you were deeper in your cups than I last night. :)

Are you sniffley or lethargic? I've been doing half doses of Nyquil every four hours and it's rather nice.

It's hard to describe the state, except to those who know it. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] ghostofantigone paid me a visit in the evening, and I was pleased to feed, water, and entertain her. Well, I also entertained myself a little, at her expense. She is uncommonly ticklish, you see.

I think the word you're looking for is "depression". There are many varieties, from mild ennui to total ego devastation. Sounds like a passing case of the mid level blahs. Hopefully they didn't hang around.

Oh yeah. I'm a veteran. This was a brief and mysterious flare-up. Feeling better now. :)

Hm... total ego devastation. that's not a bad term for the bad stuff.

Kind of like that famous panel of Dr. Banner standing in front of the gamma bomb blast, only in this case the radiation hitting him would be black.

Wow. A Depressed Hulk. Bad idea.

But it was! Just not the way you were expecting.

The best part was when you were sitting on the day bed all demure, and Five Foot Nine plopped down next to you in his eyelet-lace ensemble and grinned real big at you, then [livejournal.com profile] mishak and Cockroach started pillow-fighting a la WWF.

Well, that was the best part for me, anyway.

Was it tight, or gauzy and diaphanous?

BTW, did anyone at the party come dressed in a Victorian-era Anti-Self-Abuse garment? You know, like with a rigid pole across the shoulders holding the arms up and making it impossible to reach the Devil's Bits?

Perhaps I should ask if anyone arrived in one.
