ineffectual
Sep. 20th, 2008 12:35 amI need to address my gradually worsening problems with concentration and sleep. My treatment regimen of Ignore(TM) has yielded poor results. Have I flaked on you? Am I behind at work? Yeah.
Were it not for the vise-like grip of Thirty Days II, today would have been a complete loss.

Date: 2008-09-23 01:14 pm (UTC)Maybe it's time for a 30-day productivity challenge. One hour per day devoted to the The Tasks That Affect Your Week The Most. You would have plenty of workout buddies for that :)
...
Experience has beaten a lesson into some of us, here. Despite *all* perceptions of vulnerability and risk in the moment... lean on friends.
You probably won't know what you need from them. They're probably cool with that.
Also in my experience: Deliberate changes in scenery can be helpful. Like choosing a friend's home, an internet cafe, or some other public setting to do a chunk of your work. Try a place where your time feels like a bounded episode - or where you're paying for time by the cup - so The Task isn't something you can shuffle til after Household_Busywork_Item_27. Borrow a friend for mutual sitting in the cafe, if it helps you feel more responsible to use *their* time as intended. Set some reasonable goal in the work; like 'get these two sections written', before you can leave that work setting. Important expectation: do not permit yourself to bring home the leftover work.
