another blurry aquarium clip
Apr. 28th, 2010 11:58 pmHere are some juvenile eartheater cichlids pecking at a food pellet and sifting their substrate. I don't know if these are _Satanoperca sp._ or _Geophagus sp._. Different sources say different things.
They're in a 10-gallon (38L) aquarium right now, but I'll move them to something larger soon. The substrate is a mixture of fine white sand and fine black sand. There's a plastic flowerpot in there to provide cover. At the upper right is an internal filter which sends water over the large, rectangular filter sponge in the background. (I like to provide lots of surface area for biological filtration.) Above the filter sponge is a 50W heater set at 77°F (25°C). Eartheaters like warm water! The pH is about 7.0.
