hey, do you have extra non-ten-speed style handlebars lying around? i'm thinking of switching out my 1970s crappy huffy mixte bike's 10-speed bars for upright style bars & wanted to see how they look/feel first. 1" diameter at the stem. thoughts? also if new, what price might i be looking at?
I don't have quite what you're looking for. I have one upright bar with a narrow clamp diameter, which would require a shim to fit your stem. I doubt the trouble of making a shim, and the potentially imperfect fit this would yield, is worth avoiding the price of inexpensive bars.
I have one mountain-bike-style bar which should fit, but it has no rise -- it's just straight across. You might as well ride the top part of your existing drop bars.
You can pay from $6 for a used riser bar at Broadway Bicycle School (if they have any in their parts pile), to $65 for new, beautifully-crafted Nitto bars.
I recommend Wald 867 bars. They meet your shape and diameter requirements, and they're inexpensive.
