I'm starting these back up after a long lapse. I'll put a number there when I'm not embarrassed anymore. I love my deadlifts, but I tend to plateau quickly and then discontinue them in favor of KB work. There's that whole discipline thing again.
Discipline? Meh. These days I'm realizing more and more that pushing something to the wall is kind of pointless unless you have some external reason to do so, like competition.
The way I'm training, lifting, KBs, rope, etc., all rotating, is absolutely not the best way to advance in any of the above. But for training longevity, mixing it up to spare the joints, keeping interested, etc. it seems to be working for now.
So lift. Plateau. Switch. Something hurts? Forget it, do something else. There's always another way to drown the cat. I doubt there are any gold medals in any of our futures. But being fit and mobile at 80+ sounds pretty damn good.

My thoughts exactly. In fact, I remember writing about just that -- switching things around to prevent boredom and encourage constant activity. Won't break any records, but it keeps me moving.
I'm talking to myself here. I need convincing.
You speak the truth, comrade! Intense training affects how we feel every single day, all day long. The positive effects of uncommon physical fitness are too numerous to list.
